Summers in South Carolina can be hot, but Charleston always manages to make summers fun, too. Summer trips to Charleston usually involve beaches, cruises, historical tours, brewery tours, great food, and even a ball game. If you’re looking for things to do this summer, fun is not hard to find in Charleston. The hardest part is deciding where to begin.

Here are just a few of our favorite summer activities to get you started:

Beaches

A trip to Charleston has to include the beach. The city has several of the area’s favorite beaches including Folly Beach, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, and Edisto Beach. From laid-back Folly Beach to the family-friendly Isle of Palms, each beach has its own unique feel and personality.

Dolphin and Boat Tours

You definitely need to hit the water on your trip. Favorite activities include bottlenose dolphin watching and boat tours around Charleston Harbor. Enjoy cocktails and live music on a romantic sunset cruise… It also makes for the perfect summertime selfie!

Historic Tours

Charleston’s rich history is an attraction all year round. Favorite tours around Charleston include historic homes, plantations, art tours, food tours, and, of course, ghost tours. Get to know the Lowcountry for yourself.

Farmers Markets

You know it is summer when Farmer Markets open. A different market can be found almost every day of the week packed with fresh local seafood, jams, produce, and crafts. A local favorite is the Summer Farmer’s Market every Monday in Freshfields Village.

RiverDogs Baseball

A RiverDogs minor league baseball game is a Lowcountry tradition that’s suitable for the whole family.  Get some boiled peanuts, hot dogs, and dollar beer while you’re at it.
