It’s August, and you know what that means — the summer is quickly coming to a close, and autumn is drawing nearer. But no need to pull out your sweaters just yet. There are still events in Charleston celebrating the heat, and one of the best is the SC Reggae Jerk and wine Festival.

Located in Magnolia Plantation & Gardens in Charleston, this food and wine festival pairs traditional Jamaican jerk dishes with delicious wine, with a showcase of reggae music setting the tone. Sounds of Sand Steel Band, Dubplates Reggae Band, Lance Starr Reggae Band, and more will bring island rhythms to the event during 6 hours of live music.

Admission to the event includes jerk chicken tasters, a commemorative 9 oz wine glass, a sample of wine, and access to a huge collection of Caribbean food vendors. There are other activities throughout the day, including a pepper eating contest, and more.

This event is not only fun, but for a worthy cause. The proceeds go towards benefitting the Healthy Lifestyle Network and the Shelton Project in their fight against childhood abuse.
