Lowcountry Oyster Festival, the world’s largest oyster festival started in 1982, is a great event for friends and family. Listed by Southeastern Tourism Society as one of the “top 20 events in the southeast”, this one-day event includes contests, live music, wine, beer, local cuisine, and of course all the oysters you can eat. Favorite contests include “Oyster Shucking” and “Oyster Eating.” Returning January 29, 2023, the event sells 60,000 pounds of oysters by the bucket every year! If you’re visiting with children, there’s the “Pluff-a-Pallooza Kids’ Zone” to keep kids occupied and entertained.

Lowcountry Oyster Festival benefits the charities Ronald McDonald House of Charleston, Shriners Hospitals for Children, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, Charleston County School District, the Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina, Bread & Butter Charleston.

Keep in mind that the 2023 date is still subject to change.

Admission is $22 online and kids under 10 years old are free with a paying adult. The hours of the event are from 10 AM to 5 PM. While parking is free at the event, keep in mind that spaces are limited.
