Spoleto Festival USA is an annual performing arts festival in Charleston, and one of the largest in the US. Founded by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Gian Carlo Menotti in 1977, this festival has the best of performing arts combined with Charleston’s charm. The 17-day event showcases established and emerging talent, with over 150 performances of jazz, classical music, opera, dance and theater. Spoleto Festival USA’s mission is to present high-caliber performances while cultivating and encouraging a community of young artists and contemporary innovation. Past performers have included Renee Fleming, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Yo-Yo Ma.
The Spoleto Festival 2024 takes place May 22 – June 9, at various venues throughout Charleston such as Charleston Gaillard Center, Festival Hall, and Dock Street Theatre. This year’s performances will include L.A. Dance Project, Dark Noon, Yo-Yo Ma, Spoleto Festival USA Chorus, Jason Isbell, Amos Lee, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and more.
