One of the coolest things about Charleston, SC, is the holidays are always packed full of things to do. 4th of July 2018 is no exception. There are no shortages of fun activities for you or your family to enjoy. Whether you’re headed to Charleston for the 4th or just need a ride, call a GCT car service to help. If you don’t know what to do, here are a few of our favorite Independence Day activities:

Uncle Sam Jam- We love to enjoy good music, good drinks, and most of all dancing. At the foot of Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on the night of the 4th of July there will be the Uncle Sam Jam. This party is on the Mount Pleasant Pier, so celebrate our country’s independence at a gorgeous venue and dance to live music.

Patriots Point 4th of July Blast- It’s just not a 4th of July celebration without fireworks. We take our family to different locations to view fireworks each year, but our preference is the Patriots Point 4th of July Blast. This is one of the largest displays of fireworks that we have ever seen. The festivities began at 5 in the afternoon, but the fireworks start at nightfall. They shoot the fireworks off of the USS Yorktown’s deck.

Go to the club- The nightlife isn’t always about enjoying fireworks with the family. Sometimes you may want to let your hair down and enjoy a nice club. There are plenty of nightclubs that stay open till the early hours of the morning, but on the 4th of July you want to party. This is where DJ Cleve’s 4th of July Charleston Pre-Party comes in. This party starts at eight in the afternoon on July 3rd and doesn’t end until two in the morning on July 4th. This is a place to start celebrating the 4th early. The party will have plenty of music and plenty of drinks. Keep in mind that when the party’s over, a GCT private car is the perfect way to find your way home.

The Battery- The Charleston Battery is a hidden gem with a grand water fountain, seated benches, and porch swings on both sides of the walkway. The pier has mounted binoculars that were for public use, perfect for enjoying the 4th of July. It could be family friendly, make a great date, or a mini escape for just an individual.

Shopping- When exploring a city with such rich culture, who wouldn’t want to shop? This is when you visit the Charleston City Market. It’s basically a street-side flea market. Different vendors bring their unique arts and crafts. You can find handmade jewelry, woven baskets, and cute artwork. It’s the perfect place to snag timeless keepsakes to remember the 4th of July.

The South Carolina Aquarium- In a city with such gorgeous ocean views, who could forget to visit the South Carolina Aquarium. This Independence Day they are hosting a Sea Star and Stripes event. This is a family friendly event with barbecue from Smoky Oak Taproom, beer from Holy City Brewing, a 4-D theater movie viewing, music and fireworks overlooking the Charleston Harbor courtesy of Patriots Point. If you are looking for a great family outing this is surely one that will be very memorable. Get your tickets before they are sold out!

Beach Visits- Folly Beach is having a fireworks show free to the public. It starts at dusk, which is around 8:30. However, you can relax on the beach or fish off the pier while waiting for the show.

Festivals- North Charleston’s 4th of July Festival is great for getting out of the house. It’s take place at Riverfront Park starting in the afternoon. The things to do are endless: special musical guest performances, food truck galore, vendors to shop from, and more. They also plan to have activities for children such as inflatable bounce houses, a slew of games, and a designated play area. The festivities will be concluded by what is herald as “Lowcountry’s largest 4th of July firework show.” The best part is, it’s all free.

Boat Cruise- If you enjoy boats then you may want to attend the 4th of July Charleston Harbor Cruise. This cruise is once a year and for two and a half hours. You are even allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages while aboard. Enjoy the narrated cruise while taking in the scenery of Charleston Harbor. What better way to see all of the amazing fireworks!

If you live in Charleston or even visiting, there are a slew of activities to do for the 4th of July. With plenty of drinks, make sure you keep in mind that private car services are available to get you from event to event. The best way to commemorate the 4th of July 2018 is to have fun and stay safe.
