Charleston, South Carolina, has long been a destination for people that want great food. Now, the beautiful city has also earned the reputation as a place for anyone that loves wine as well. The Charleston Fall Wine Festival is the perfect example of the type of vibrant and exciting events celebrating wine that locals and visitors can enjoy.
Charleston is home to many popular wineries and vineyards. The location also boasts many wine bars and wine merchants that offer up local vintages, worldwide favorites, and rare and desirable bottles to sample and purchase. City wine tours have also helped to introduce everyone to what local businesses have to offer. Wine festivals enable people to see and experience it all in one place. Any wine aficionado needs to include at least one of the many food and wine events held locally to their annual itinerary.
This October, the first-ever Charleston Fall Wine Festival will take place at the Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal. The event follows other seasonal wine festivals that have drawn big crowds and helped draw attention to many startups and established businesses. Visitors can expect to find craft beer, over 50 types of wine and plenty of live entertainment at the festival. The event, held on the water, is an indoor/outdoor party for anyone age 21 and over that wants to have fun as they learn more about local wine.
The festival takes place on October 12th and will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. No pets or children can attend the event. Included with the ticket price are wine and beer samples, a souvenir wine glass, and all the free entertainment for the day. Advance tickets cost $45 for early reservations, $50 after October 3rd, and are $60 at the door. Plan early and arrange reliable festival transportation for what could be a busy day in the area.
Anyone that plans to attend should dress for the weather, as there are no alternative rain dates, and the organizers will not offer refunds. The vendors at the event will have wine, beer, and food and other items available for purchase, so plan to do some shopping for personal favorites and early holiday gifts. Free bottled water is available to all guests throughout the event. The sponsors will not offer designated driver tickets, and this could affect the ability of people to have a personal designated driver. Remember to either sample in moderation or reserve a private car service for safe festival transportation.
