The first month of autumn sees so many wonderful seasonal events and activities. GCT has rounded up the best of what Charleston has to offer for you and your family during your visit to South Carolina this fall.
Dog Day Afternoon
On September 9th, bring your favorite dog out to Splash Island Waterpark at Palmetto Islands County Park for a day of fun. From 10 a.m. until noon and then 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., join the crowds splashing around the pool with their pups. Advance tickets are $8 per dog, or $10 at the gate. This is a great day to feel the true community spirit of Charleston, and a great activity for families.
Charleston Scottish Games
From Thursday September 14th until Sunday September 17th, visit one of Charleston’s most anticipated cultural events. The four day event includes live traditional Scottish music and dancing performances, rugby demonstrations, parties and children’s activities such as games and crafts. For adults, there is also Scotch Whisky Tastings, a Tartan Ball, and a Beer Garden. Check the website for schedule, locations, and tickets. Kids under six years old are free, and those age six to twelve are $5 admission. Enjoy the day!
MOJA Arts Festival
For yet another fantastic cultural celebration, September 28th until October 8th is MOJA Festival, a celebration of African-American and Caribbean arts and heritage. This 10-day celebration is jam-packed with traditional crafts, delicious homemade food, and art performances such as dance exhibitions, musical concerts, and literary readings. No matter what you enjoy, you’re sure to find something you like at this vibrant community celebration.
